How to Safely Ship a Resin Statue

A horror resin collectible statue packed in protective foam and bubble wrap inside a shipping box

To ship a resin statue safely, take it apart where you can, wrap each fragile part on its own, suspend the piece in padding, and double-box it. Resin and polystone survive transit only when nothing can move and nothing can press on a thin part. Here is the method that gets a statue there intact.

Before you pack

Photograph the piece from every angle first, in case you need to prove its condition for an insurance claim. Then remove any parts that detach, like weapons, wings, or swappable hands, so they cannot snap in transit.

Wrap each part

Wrap the body and every loose part separately. Use acid-free tissue against the paint first, then bubble wrap. Pay special attention to thin, projecting details, which are where breaks happen, and support the base.

Double-box it

  1. Place the wrapped piece in an inner box with firm padding on every side so it cannot shift.
  2. Put that box inside a larger outer box, with at least five centimetres of padding all around.
  3. Fill every void. The piece should not move at all when you gently shake the package.
  4. Seal it well and mark it fragile, though never rely on the label alone.

Insure and track

For a valuable collectible, insure the shipment for its full value and use a tracked service. Keep your packing photos until it arrives safely. If a piece does arrive damaged, our repair guide covers clean breaks, and the same packing method works for long-term storage.

Frequently asked questions

How do I stop a statue breaking in the post?

Remove detachable parts, wrap each piece separately, suspend it in padding, and double-box so nothing can move or press on a thin detail.

Should I keep the original box?

Yes. The original packaging is designed for the piece and is the safest way to ship or store it.

Do I need to insure a statue shipment?

For anything valuable, yes. Insure for full value, use a tracked service, and keep photos of the packed condition.
